Catherine H. Bene, Jr., M.D. has been director of the VitreoRetinal Center in York Pennsylvania since 1985. She graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Following her medical school at Temple University School of Medicine, Dr. Bene completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She received her fellowship training in diseases of the retina and vitreous at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Bene has published research in the field of diabetic retinopathy, cystoid macular edema and vitreous hemorrhage. She is known for her expertise in laser surgery for diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration and surgical treatment of macular holes, complex retinal detachments, and complications of cataract surgery.
